Thom & Susie Cosgrove DAR House, 2007...Living happily in their new State of Maine!" I was at a wedding last night for a most wonderful couple and if the bride/groom had indeed put down the aisle runner as intended, I'm quite certain one or more of the wedding party would have slipped or stumbled.
You see, aisle runners can be "dangerous." Yes, truly. If you put an aisle runner on a slippery surface or grassy surface without proper taping or another method of securing the runner, people go flying.
So, if you're thinking about an aisle runner and you absolutely must have one (as you can tell, I'm not a big fan), make sure your runner is going on a safe/proper surface and is well secured.

During this year, I had the wonderful opportunity to come to know Renee and Michael as they moved toward their wedding day.
And sometimes, a photo says it all. Forget the blog posting!
I could write hundreds of words about Renee and Michael - about their devotion, love story, fun quirks and funny stories.
Photographer Alex Rubin so exquisitely captured Renee and Michael during a private moment on their wedding reception night, just before the sun went down over Newcastle Golf and Country Club.

One of Seattle's finest Celebrants, Sean Patrick O'Reilly, unexpectedly passed away on July 22nd. When I got the call, I absolutely could not believe it. I was without words.
In so many ways, I looked up to Sean. I remember lunches and meetings in his offices where we shared "ceremony" stories and giggles (Sean was so full of joy). Sean created and delivered a wedding ceremony with the upmost care, spirit and personal touches.
As I work thru August, I am dedicating each wedding ceremony to Sean. Today, I am off to marry the marvelous Weston and Tanya at Gasworks Park and then will be at Parsons Garden for Ann and Chris's wedding ceremony.
Thank you, Sean. For giving me the opportunity to sit on the couch with you and share stories, to be inspired by the magic of your craft and for the laughter.
Robb and Ann traveled from California to downtown Seattle to be married waterside on October 22nd at the wonderful Edgewater Hotel on Alaskan Way. They exchanged personal vows that were a surprise and it was truly a hankie moment.
The Edgewater Hotel is a favorite of mine for a wedding ceremony and reception - whether the guest list is 2-10 happy people or 200+ happy people.
The weather was iffy during Robb and Ann's wedding week and on Friday afternoon/early evening, the clouds parted and we had beautiful sunshine on the "wedding deck" overlooking the Puget Sound!
Photo Guy Kier from Firstlight Photography was on hand to capture the moment ~ isn't the smile on Ann's face to the right just fabulous?
Robb and Ann ~ How wonderful to have a "place" to return to celebrate your wedding day and future anniversaries!

I had the marvelous honor of officiating Ian and Jordan's wedding ceremony this past Saturday evening. It was an absolute joy for me to work with Ian and Jordan to craft, write and create their ceremony which was shared with 160 of their family and friends high in the sky at the downtown Sheraton Seattle Hotel. From the ceremony music, to Jordan's gorgeous gown and accessories, to Ian's checkered shoes, to their beautiful vows and more - it was a night to remember.

Title: 1983 A Merman I Should Turn To Be - Part 2 of 2 Hendrix Electric Ladyland Moon Turn the Tides
"1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)" (also known as "1983") is a song by English/American psychedelic rock band The Jimi Hendrix Experience, featured on their 1968 third studio album Electric Ladyland. Often recognised as one of the most psychedelic songs written by Jimi Hendrix, "1983" is also the second longest song by the band, surpassed only by the fifteen-minute "Voodoo Chile." The song features Jimi Hendrix on multiple guitars, bass and vocals, Mitch Mitchell on drums, and Chris Wood on flute. Various sound effect overdubs were also added. "1983" details a science fiction scenario of an apocalyptic war and the protagonist/Hendrix's desire to "take our last walk through the noise to the sea" with his female companion in order to escape the destruction. The song segues into "Moon, Turn the Tides...Gently Gently Away", which represents their descent together into the ocean depths. By some, "1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)" is considered Jimi Hendrix's most philosophical and political song. The lyric of the song talks about a man who awakes and says "hurray" from waking up from yesterday. His aim is to be a Merman. For Jimi, a Merman is somebody who walks away from war and oppression and does what the government had told him was against God and the king (meaning the president). Man has been told that he can't live underwater. He can't be against God (meaning the powers that be). Jimi tells us to walk straight into the sea. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983..._(A_Merman_I_Should_Turn_to_Be) Night Tide is a 1961 fantasy film, written and directed by Curtis Harrington and starring Dennis Hopper. It premiered in 1961, but was held up from general release until 1963. The film was restored by the Academy Film Archive in 2007. Seaman Johnny Drake (Dennis Hopper), on shore leave, finds a "Mermaid" sideshow attraction at the marina, operated by Captain Murdock (Gavin Muir). The "Mermaid" Mora (Linda Lawson) and Johnny fall for each other. Everyone around them is wary of the romance, as her previous lovers have died mysteriously. Mora believes she is a descendant of the Sirens, mythic sea creatures who lure sailors to their deaths. From time to time a mysterious and seemingly sinister woman (Marjorie Cameron) appears and frightens Mora. She believes the woman is the leader of the mermaids, calling Mora to fulfill her destiny. Mora's origins seem to be driving her to commit murder by the full moon. Johnny is unable to believe his lover is capable of murder, but Mora herself seems more certain. During a midnight diving trip with Mora, under a full moon, Johnny realizes that people's warnings about Mora may be true ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_Tide "Annabel Lee" is the last complete poem composed by American author Edgar Allan Poe. Like many of Poe's poems, it explores the theme of the death of a beautiful woman. The narrator, who fell in love with Annabel Lee when they were young, has a love for her so strong that even angels are jealous. He retains his love for her even after her death. There has been debate over who, if anyone, was the inspiration for "Annabel Lee". Though many women have been suggested, Poe's wife Virginia Eliza Clemm Poe is one of the more credible candidates. Written in 1849, it was not published until shortly after Poe's death that same year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annabel_Lee 1983 A Merman I Should Turn To Be -- rhymes rather well with Annabel Lee. Comments are welcome. I thank the various copyright holders and assure them that this video is not for any profit, only a commentary of the works of these fine creative artists, perhaps mermen all. Enjoy a little trip with me to the sea? It's only a 21-minute movie, on me.
