Colin and Andrea: An Imperfect Spot At Golden Gardens Park For A Perfect Wedding...

Colin and Andrea: An Imperfect Spot At Golden Gardens Park For A Perfect Wedding... Colin & Andrea ~ July 2010 ~ Golden Gardens, Seattle, WA

Colin and Andrea found an imperfect spot for their wedding ceremony near their wedding reception venue at Golden Gardens Park.

And in this imperfect spot, the perfect vows were exchanged by a couple meant to be together.

I love imperfect weddings. And it's no secret that most wedding ceremonies are all slightly imperfect. That's what makes them perfect. The best wedding ceremonies memories are in the unexpected moments - the occasional glitches - the tears out of nowhere - the moments of humor and glee that take your breath away.

Colin and Andrea ~ thank you for giving us the lovely opportunity to "parade" with you to your ceremony site and to share in your imperfectly perfect moment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Will this be on iTunes?

--No, not the iTunes store, but it can be in your iTunes for free. Download it from my website, djearworm.com. You don't need to pay the iTunes store to put free mp3s in your iTunes software, you just download the mp3 and then double-click on it (or drag it into your iTunes if that doesn't work).

2. Why is that artist I hate in your list, and why isn't that artist I love in your list?

--This is based on the Top 25 songs of Billboard's 2009 year-end list. I didn't choose the songs. The complete list is here: http://www.billboard.com/charts-year-end#/charts-year-end/hot-100-songs?year=2009

3. Why is that song from last year in the list? Why isn't that song which was so popular toward the end of the year on the list?

--Billboard's cutoff date is Dec 1st, to give them time to calculate the results and publish them well before New Years Day, which is good for me, since I need a little time to put this together and release it before the end of the year!

4. How long did this take you?

--If you add it up, about a month. About two weeks earlier in the year using educated guesswork, and then two weeks between when Billboard released the list and when I put it out.

5. What software did you use?

--Ableton Live for arranging the music. It's AWESOME, and it's what I use to DJ live with as well. Final Cut Pro for the video. For acapella extraction, see the next question.

6. How did you get the vocals without the instruments?

--if you search for "acapella" with the name of your song, you might find an isolated vocal. In some cases, I use a bit of Adobe Audition (the Center Channel Extractor effect) for vocal isolation. This removes instruments that are to the left or right in your stereo, and leaves only the sound that's in the center. You can also use this effect to take an instrumental and a full track to create an acapella. Check out my book "Audio Mashup Construction Kit" for more details on this technique, there's a whole chapter on it. In a few instances I used Melodyne Studio for vocal isolation.

7. What are the lyrics? Who sang that one part? I didn't hear that one artist!

--I've posted the complete lyrics here, as well as a guide to where each of the lyrics and instruments came from:
http://djearworm.com/united-state-of-pop-2009-blame-it-on-the-pop-lyrics.htm

8. I want to make mashups, do you have any tips?

--Learn as much music theory as possible! Get ACID or Ableton Live, and learn it well. Make sure you understand key and tempo, so you can sync everything and get the parts to harmonize correctly. If you're of a technical mindset, my book "Audio Mashup Construction Kit" covers my techniques in great detail.

9. Can I repost this video?

--please, no, and thanks for asking! Use the music however you want, but don't simply repost the video in its entirety on your channel. I lots of people are doing it, but I wish they wouldn't!

10. Doesn't this prove how much pop music sucks nowadays and is basically interchangeable?

--Not at all. If you alter the tempo and pitch of any music enough, you could get anything to fit together, whether it's Bach or the Black Eyed Peas. What it does prove is how far technology has come to make these alterations sound convincing. I've manipulated some of these vocals HEAVILY.

If He/She Is Playing Hard To Get - Try A Different Approach

por | | 0 comments

Attraction and "playing hard to get" are complementary concepts, but not completely overlapping (I recommend reading my article - Can Playing Hard To Get Make You More Attractive?). While a little challenge can add some spark to any relationship (as children we hated playing hide-and-seek with those who hid in plain sight and as adults we quickly lose interest when there is no challenge), using "playing hard to get" as a basis for attraction is like playing on sinking sand.

The people I know who "play hard to get" and follow all kinds of rules about when you're supposed to call after a first date, when you are supposed to say I love you etc. are normally the least happy and seem to be the ones who have the most trouble finding good people and having lasting relationships. But so are the people who chase after people who play hard to get.

If you are in a relationship with someone playing hard to get, here are some tried-and-found-to-be-very-effective positive actions that you can take:

1. Go the way of least resistance - When resistance is the focus, it becomes even more powerful. So stop chasing him/her. If you chase a man or woman, he/she will usually run. If your intention is just to chase and not "catch" him or her, then keep chasing. But if you intention is to finally have this person in your loving arms, there is no point in chasing after him/her only for him/her to keep running. If the person is really into you and he/she realizes nobody is chasing after him/her, he/she will stop running and wait to be "caught" or start the chasing themselves.

I know stopping chasing is hard, because when things are not going the way you'd like them to go, it's easy to panic or want to act in some way to "force" it to happen. Many of us spin our wheels mentally, trying to force an outcome. But the beauty of the law of attraction is that we don't have to make things happen, we simply allow them to happen. So let go off the "how" and "when" and simply relax and allow the attraction process to unfold exactly as it will.

2. Inspire attraction not impose it - Attraction is much less concerned with breaking down resistance as it is with producing good feelings, touching deeper emotions and creating a shared bond (sense of kinship). Whatever the other person believes to be a "barrier' to having a relationship with you, he/she likely has reasons that make sense, at least to him/her. Trying to dismiss, shoot down or override his/her reasons only creates more tension and more resistance. Your explaining, arguing and convincing will not work because you are using logical solutions to an emotional need. People don't fall in love for logical reasons. They fall in love because of the emotions and then justify their decision logically.

Rather than trying to "break down" their resistance, you'll achieve more and faster by listening to his/her thoughts (words) and emotions (feelings). Their words and behaviours will often reveal the "emotional" information you need to move forward.

3. Just enjoy them - It can be hard to enjoy the other person when he or she is not responding the way you want him/her to be responding. But the more you appreciate whatever degree of attraction there is between the two of you (right -now-as-it-is), the more easily things seem to flow and the more attraction you are likely to create.

If you find yourself always chasing after men and women who are playing hard to get, then you seriously need to question your own emotional programming.

Title: Victor Wooten - Isn't She Lovely?

Music by Stevie Wonder

Recorded at the Northridge Library on January 23, 2010.

Victor Wooten undertook a four day "Library Tour" in Los Angeles. Three of the four stops were in the San Fernando Valley. He performed, spoke about his musical development and philosophy, answered questions and signed copies of his excellent book "The Music Lesson: A Spiritual Search for Growth through Music."
http://www.amazon.com/Music-Lesson-Spiritual-Search-Through/dp/0425220931/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1264993360&sr=8-1

Victor demonstrates looping and how by playing the "wrong" notes musically, they cease being so wrong. Excellent lesson for all artists.

During this mini tour Victor seemed to avoid the slapping and popping that he is widely associated with, instead he focused on melody, groove and outside notes.

The event was sponsored by The Los Angeles Music Network. www.LAMN.com

Title: Meeting place - The Last Shadow Puppets

The Colder the night gets
The further she strains
And he doesn't like it
Being this way

And she tried so hard
To steer away
From the meeting place
But her heart had left her there

She clings to his consciousness
Wherever he layed
Struggles to sleep at night
And during the day

He's worried she's waiting in his dreams
To drag him back to the meeting place
His love had left in there
Where the voices still echoes

I'm sorry I met you darling
I'm sorry I met you
As she turned into the night
All he had was the words
"I'm sorry I met you darling
I'm sorry I left you"

Four weeks they had trolled around
Playing the fools
They knew the time would come
And time would be cruel

Because it is cruel to everyone
He is crying out from the meeting place
He stranded himself there
Where the voice still echo

I'm sorry I met you darling
I'm sorry I met you
As she turned into the night
All he had was the words
"I'm sorry I met you darling
I'm sorry I left you"

I'm sorry I met you darling
I'm sorry I've left you

Sean and Dawn held their ceremony and celebration at the Blue Ribbon Cooking School in Seattle. This is a fabulous venue for such an event and as always, Event Mangers, Vanessa and Amy, did a terrific job pulling together all details to insure a gorgeous evening for this sweet couple. And DJ Chris Graves, as always, was an absolutely "rockin' pleasure!" to work with.

The Tom Raper T-shirts are finally available! Get yours here http://tomraper.viralprints.com/drink-it-2853

Youtube user abcd827 proved how much of a Patriot he was today by sending Pabst this touching letter,

To whom it may concern,

As an American citizen, I'm proud to say that PBR is the most American beer on the market today. Yuengling may be America's oldest, but who graces their container with the colors of our great country? You do.

Recently I saw a Youtube video that was a commercial spoof. It featured a young man named Tom Raper. Even though his commercial would never be fit for real advertisement, I think that him and his outfit would. If you take a minute to look him up on Youtube, please consider him, because I believe that he would be a great spokesman for the brand.

Sincerely,
A Conservative, Republican, American.

If you follow his Patriotic example and send PBR a similar message, and send us a message saying you did, we will mention your name along side other true American's in this youtube video.

You can contact PBR here, http://www.pabstblueribbon.com/Contact.aspx

Keep on fightin' the good fight brothers and sisters, and more importantly, KEEP ON DRINKING!

Suzanne's son, Daniel, did a spectacular job as "ring boy" and at the end of the ceremony, he joined the clapping and congratulations by raising his hands in the air with great joy - so well captured in a photo!
Suzanne and Michael ~ I wish you much happiness and you are to be so very proud of the family you have created together and your special addition this Fall!
