A wonderful couple whom I am marrying at the end of May tragically lost their 15-year-old son this past Monday. Michael is the beloved son of the Bride, Tammy, and this loss came out of nowhere.
Truthfully, there are no words in this moment.
I have the honor of creating and officiating Michael's Memorial Service which will be held this Monday, March 16th. I treasure this wedding work that I do and I also have the privilege of creating and delivering personalized memorials and life tributes.
So, today, I am taking a breath...and a walk in the nearby Grand Forest with our four dogs with gratitude for all blessings in life. And at the same time, my heart goes out to Michael's family.

I love many things about Dion and Jamie. One of the things that stood out for me on this couple's wedding day is how Dion and Jamie elegantly involved many of their family and friends into the pre-ceremony part of their wedding day.
For instance, they had young boys handing out programs at two doors and at the elevators.
A greeter was staged at the back of the ceremony area, welcoming guests.
The Bride's Father was an absolutely fabulous pre-ceremony coordinator - and probably a wedding planner in a previous life!
I could go on and on - and what is true is that people LOVED being a part of this couple's wedding day. When family and friends have appropriate jobs/tasks, they feel a true connection to the day.

?Wondering how to be romantic and creative with your partner or date? Perhaps you are single and interested in dating someone and want to show your interest. Maybe you are in a committed relationship and feeling burdened by work and don’t have time nor the funds to whip up a second honeymoon. Either way, you care about your partner and would like to show it, but may not have a clue as to what you should be doing. Good news! I am here to provide some romantic suggestions that work for both genders. Once you read a few, you’ll be able to come up with your own ideas – inexpensive, more original than flowers, more memorable than a Rolex – and suitable for every day of the year.
1. Grocery shopping for dinner with a new date? Remember what he or she likes, then plan to have some of the same items on hand for your next visit. Hold hands at the checkout counter.
2. In a traffic jam? Even if you two are simply waiting for the light to change in the car or crossing the street, lean over and give a kiss. You’ll get a smile a response.
3. Busy schedule? Meet your mate at the door with his/her slippers, bathrobe, and a soothing drink.
3a. Same as number 3, but add wearing your own slippers, bathrobe, etc.
4. Little spontaneous notes can be packed in with lunches, placed near the coffee pot, left on a pillow, even taped to the bathroom mirror.
5. Always unlock the car door for your partner. If you are the driver, open the passenger door first. If you are seated in the car, reach over and unlock the other door.
6. Can’t afford a romantic getaway? Enjoy a cozy evening at home – just the two of you - and PLAN one. There is much fun to be had in the planning. You’ll see.
7. Call him/her when you witness or think of something funny during your day. (Note: don’t have a cell phone? It is time to get one.)
8. Share a picnic. If the weather isn’t cooperating, spread a blanket and big, fluffy pillow on the living room floor and have a picnic there!
9. At least once a day, find a reason to thank your partner. Whether it is for taking you on a date, taking out the garbage, being your best friend, or simply just for making you smile, say thank you.
10. Sit or play outside together. It doesn’t have to be a sunset cruise to be memorable. You don’t have to climb Mt. Everest for excitement. Let nature take its course. It is easy as gazing at the stars.
The above covers only a fraction of the possibilities. It should, however, be enough to get you started. Try a few. You’ll find that you come up with your own ideas easily. Best of all, your relationship will stay fresh and be enhanced as well. So, let’s get creative, shall we? Here’s to your romance!

1. What inspired you to start your company?
When I was planning my own wedding my mother and I searched high and low for a card box option that wasn't tacky, gaudy, or cheap and that reflected the style of my very customized wedding. After searching online and seeing the options available I decided to create my own. (as shown in the photo above)
After posting my wedding pictures on the net and the Knot.com message boards I had a lot of brides asking me to make them one of their own. I started to do it for fun and then, after speaking to some wedding professionals i'm friendly with who encouraged me, I decided to start up a little business!
2. What wedding trends are you currently loving?
I just love that weddings are so completely customized now! I think we've all been to weddings that were just a bit 'cookie cutter' in the past but the trend now is to totally personalize weddings. Why shouldn't your wedding reflect you?! Its all about the couple and the trend of personalizing each detail and capturing the couple's personalities in those details is so great!
3. What wedding planning advice would you give to engaged couples?
Along the same lines of what I've mentioned earlier, take the time to make your wedding about you! This is the one day that you get to really put your "couple personality" into an event. So don't be afraid to show your guests who you are and what made you fall in love with each other! Most of all, don't sweat the little inconveniences that go along with planning. Remember the people who care about you will be there on the big day to share your celebration of love and of each other. The rest is cake, literally!
4. What do you love most about your job?
I love to work with such fun color combinations and constantly improve my products. I really enjoy it when my clients keep a dialogue going with me as to what they'd like to see. I have a client who actually won a giveaway we've done for a 1 tier Creative Custom Card Box that loved us so much, she's upgraded to a 2 tier!
She sent me some pictures of some other details she's using at her wedding including some pretty flowers she's made out of book pages. I told her that I'd love to use some of her flowers in the design. I can't wait to get working on it!
5. What are your favorite wedding websites and/or blogs?
Of course I love your blog to see some of the great parasols and runners you create! Some other websites I stalk regularly include Brenda's Wedding Blog, Vintage Glam Weddings, Weddingbee, Etsy, ..oh I could go on!

MY NEW BEST FRIEND IN IDAHO....
And in getting to know one of my couples for their upcoming July wedding, I have made a "new best friend" in Idaho. She is the Mother of one of my brides and was just recently diagnosed with stomach cancer. In this work that I do, everything is intimate - getting to know a couple, reflecting back a love story, taking care of family and friends during the emotional journey of all that is a wedding ceremony.
And for this year, I am holding my "new best friend" in Idaho in my thoughts and prayers as she takes on personal challenges - physically, emotionally and mentally.
And here is what I know for sure: I will be giving my "new best friend" in Idaho a great big hug on the afternoon of her daughter's wedding rehearsal on July 17th - and in the meantime, I invite you - a wonderful reader of this blog - to fly under the radar with me and anonymously adopt my "new best friend" in Idaho this year - sending her your prayer and best wishes. It's amazing what flying under the radar can do!

Peak Records is proud to present the new release for multi-talented Grammy® winning contemporary urban/jazz guitarist Norman Brown's "Sending My Love."
For almost two decades, it has been a veritable love fest between GRAMMY® Award winning guitarist, composer and singer Norman Brown and his legions of fans. And, with his long-awaited new recording, Sending My Love, Brown keeps the good vibes going.
Brown intensifies an already much-beloved recipe of sound, with ten tracks, nine of which he wrote) that flow easily from steamy R&B to guitar lashed flights of instrumental fantasy, all the while keeping things right in the pocket. From the first track - the easy breezy, horn laden, "Come Go With Me" - to the sexy groove of the R&B track "I'm Pouring My Heart Out" to the gentle acoustic guitar melody of "One Last Goodbye," Brown shows off the stylistic diversity that has gained him a loyal following. He does so by utilizing some of the tried and true musicians, songwriters, and producers he's worked with in the past: longtime collaborator Herman Jackson, bassist Alex Al, drummer Teddy Campbell, rhythm guitarist Jubu, and percussionist Kevin Ricard. He also reached out to R&B production camp Tha Bizness and R&B songwriters Melvin Moore III (who happens to be his godson) and Floyd E. Bentley III from his Kansas City hometown for the hop vocal tunes "I'm Pouring My Heart Out" and "One Last Goodbye."
Even his daughter Rochella Brown, a student at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, and her songwriting partners arranged a new version of the Kenny Loggins classic "Celebrate Me Home." Rochella sings with Brown on the beloved gem, which also features a choral contributing from GRAMMY® winning ensemble Sounds Of Blackness. Brown adds that, with a daughter serving in Iraq, he dedicated the song to our troops. "I'm dedicating that to my second oldest daughter, Kesha, a West Point graduate who is a first lieutenant, fighting in Iraq," he said. "I think about all the families of these troops and the troops themselves, and 'Celebrate Me Home' hits it on the head -- we all want to see them come home safely."
Michael and Suzanne were married on a sunny Summer afternoon at Seattle's Rainier Club ~ much to the absolute delight of their family and friends.
Suzanne's Mother flew in from England to attend the wedding and this intimate gathering was a perfect complement to a ceremony and celebration so well planned by this couple.
Suzanne's son, Daniel, did a spectacular job as "ring boy" and at the end of the ceremony, he joined the clapping and congratulations by raising his hands in the air with great joy - so well captured in a photo!
