Photographer Carrie Stark was with me on a brisk morning last week and captured this sweet image of Mark and Juanita Vidger immediately after they were married at Ruby Beach on the Washington Coast.
When I arrived at Ruby Beach on this early morning, I was so happy to see Carrie and finally meet Mark and Juanita who planned their oceanside ceremony from their home in Colorado.
With their closest friends and a well-dressed ring bearer and flower girl at their side, Mark and Juanita exchange vows on the sand ~ a truly perfect and some ways mystical moment.
I walked away from the beach to my car and looked back - just wanting a last look at the ocean and couple before getting in my car for the four hour drive back to my home on Bainbridge Island. I love the ocean and I left feeling very happy.

Steve and Trixie Harmon were just married at sunset on the historic Discovery Boat in the middle of Lake Union. And Steve and Trixie could not have selected a more perfect setting for their intimate ceremony and celebration.
Guests boarded the boat and after about a ten-minute boat ride, Steve and Trixie were married in a sweet ceremony with their children, family and closest friends.

Marni over at Creative Custom Card Boxes makes some of the cutest card boxes I've seen. The best thing is these beauties have a purpose. 1. What inspired you to start your company?
When I was planning my own wedding my mother and I searched high and low for a card box option that wasn't tacky, gaudy, or cheap and that reflected the style of my very customized wedding. After searching online and seeing the options available I decided to create my own. (as shown in the photo above)
After posting my wedding pictures on the net and the Knot.com message boards I had a lot of brides asking me to make them one of their own. I started to do it for fun and then, after speaking to some wedding professionals i'm friendly with who encouraged me, I decided to start up a little business!
2. What wedding trends are you currently loving?
I just love that weddings are so completely customized now! I think we've all been to weddings that were just a bit 'cookie cutter' in the past but the trend now is to totally personalize weddings. Why shouldn't your wedding reflect you?! Its all about the couple and the trend of personalizing each detail and capturing the couple's personalities in those details is so great!
3. What wedding planning advice would you give to engaged couples?
Along the same lines of what I've mentioned earlier, take the time to make your wedding about you! This is the one day that you get to really put your "couple personality" into an event. So don't be afraid to show your guests who you are and what made you fall in love with each other! Most of all, don't sweat the little inconveniences that go along with planning. Remember the people who care about you will be there on the big day to share your celebration of love and of each other. The rest is cake, literally!
4. What do you love most about your job?
I love to work with such fun color combinations and constantly improve my products. I really enjoy it when my clients keep a dialogue going with me as to what they'd like to see. I have a client who actually won a giveaway we've done for a 1 tier Creative Custom Card Box that loved us so much, she's upgraded to a 2 tier!
She sent me some pictures of some other details she's using at her wedding including some pretty flowers she's made out of book pages. I told her that I'd love to use some of her flowers in the design. I can't wait to get working on it!
5. What are your favorite wedding websites and/or blogs?
Of course I love your blog to see some of the great parasols and runners you create! Some other websites I stalk regularly include Brenda's Wedding Blog, Vintage Glam Weddings, Weddingbee, Etsy, ..oh I could go on!

Getting married - getting hitched - is a big huge deal.
When I meet with a couple, you won't find me "pitching a package" ~ i.e., the emerald package, the gold package, the pearl deal.
Instead, most often, when I meet with an engaged couple who is seeking an Officiant, I suggest that they meet with a number of Wedding Officiants.
Yes, I love this work that I do. And I love booking a couple for a wedding - especially one I am crazy about. Yet at the same time, I know one thing for sure. I'm the right Officiant for many couples and not the best choice for others.
Selecting an Officiant for a ceremony is a very personal decision and often a daunting decision for engaged guy and gal. When I meet with a couple, I don't arrogantly assume I'm the "right choice." I want a couple to talk or meet with a number of Officiants and to do their "selection homework." Then, when I am happily the best choice, I know that I have a couple who truly appreciates my personality, approach to this work and my heart and spunk. And I fully get that I am the best choice for them.

This is the time of year (Fall/Winter) when I meet with couples who are putting the planning pieces together - small weddings, unusual weddings, large and formal affairs, a casual home affair, a wedding by the sea and so much more.
And here's what I know for sure as I move into 2009:
- When planning your wedding ceremony, focus on the "two of you." What you want and desire for your ceremony and how you can incorporate your family and friends in a meaningful way that will create a memory for a lifetime. Your ceremony is a "one time only" ritual - give it the respect and care it deserves - whether formal or casual, large or intimate.
- Remember that you can "swing both ways" - within your ceremony, you have the lovely opportunity to incorporate traditional pieces/elements and contemporary elements. This is true whether you are religious, spiritual or secular.
- And most of all, consider the possibility of a weekday wedding for serious savings and don't put off or miss the opportunity for an immediate honeymoon. Even if your post-wedding time together is a day, a few days or a week or two, take the time to decompress and truly relish in the joy of starting your new partnership - together.
