Kenneth & Robyn Shilshole Bay Beach Club Seattle, WA Ken and Robyn's wedding ceremony on a March Saturday morning at Shilshole Bay Beach Club was blessed with incredible sunshine.
In front of 150 family and friends, Ken and Robyn exchanged vows and I'm hopeful their photographer was able to capture the huge smiles and meaningful glances they exchanged during their wedding ceremony!
Ken and Robyn worked to create an elegant yet casual ceremony and reception that was truly about family - there were children running around and this only added to the joy in room. Many wedding ceremonies I attend don't have children in attendance, particularly the evening ceremonies. It was meaningful for me to be reminded of how much fun children do have at a wedding and incorporating the little ones creates memories - although most often hugely unexpected moments/memories! www.wedbyannemarie.com

When crafting and writing a wedding ceremony that includes a child or children, I'm very resourceful in how I create and incorporate a family ritual that is appropriate, loving and memorable.
In Paul and Kimberly's morning wedding ceremony at the Woodmark Hotel, Paul's girls helped our couple re-plant a "wedding tree" - complete with watering and scooping of the dirt (no, nobody got dirty!). Smaller children love a ritual that is tactile - meaning, they actually "do something." If you are incorporating a child or children into a ceremony, get creative and mark the moment with a ritual that is meaningful and memorable for your new family.

The other five come out together in the procession (after the flower girls, ring bearer, and bridesmaids) lined up from youngest to oldest. This montage includes a sand ceremony to celebrate the blending of two families into one.

Here's the bad news: The emotions you'll experience when trying to function in a blended family range from frustration to serious frustration. The good news is that these feelings are normal, temporary, and even manageable...if you check out this segment with relationship expert Dr. Dale Atkins.
"An Unexpected & Sweet Ceremony Moment" Diane & Fred
I'm fond of saying a wedding ceremony is a "one time shot." This is "Officiant speak" for the gentle tension I always feel going into a ceremony knowing I have "one shot" to get things right - meaning I can't give you a gift certificate for a "do over!"
And what I absolutely treasure about a ceremony is the synchronicity that seems to follow each couple I work with - i.e., the "unexpected moments."
During Fred and Diane's wedding ceremony, there were several including this shot captured by Joe and Jill (http://www.joejill.com/) that reflects Diane's joyful devotion to the handsome guy in front of her who was so enjoying their ceremony!
So, bring on those unexpected moments. Forget the "perfect wedding ceremony" - the wedding ceremony where everything is orchestrated and "perfect." I much prefer an enjoyable ceremony that is comfortable, real, romantic and with a dash of the unexpected!

Title: Alanis Morissette - Perfect + Lyrics
Nice song, eh?
XD
Sometimes is never quite enough
If you're flawless, then you'll win my love
Don't forget to win first place
Don't forget to keep that smile on your face
Be a good boy
Try a little harder
You've got to measure up
And make me prouder
How long before you screw it up
How many times do I have to tell you to hurry up
With everything I do for you
The least you can do is keep quiet
Be a good girl
You've gotta try a little harder
That simply wasn't good enough
To make us proud
I'll live for you
I'll make you what I never was
If you're the best, then maybe so am I
Compared to him compared to her
I'm doing this for your own damn good
You'll make up for what I blew
What's the problem ...... why are you crying
Be a good boy
Push a little farther now
That wasn't fast enough
To make us happy
We'll love you just the way you are if you're perfect
As I take a deep breath of gratitude for a wonderful wedding year in 2010, I can't help but think about the fun moments, the wacky moments, the "oh dear," moments and the many moments that took my breath away in awe.
So, as I take this week and next for rest and play, I think about these moments from 2010 and giggle:
~ The moment Michael and Lindy's young son escaped from a front church pew and made a beeline for the back of the church - to run with glee down the center aisle of St. Paul's church to his parents during their vows!
~ The moment Betsy the dog started howling during a sentimental song in a wedding ceremony (very funny and memorable for all!)
~ After reminding Best Man Brad about the rings 3 times, he still forgot the rings!
~ When Jeff and his wedding party rode in on a golf cart to start the wedding ceremony ~ and it stalled half-way!
Joy, joy and more joy ~ you've got to love it. Here is to a fun-filled and very meaningful 2011!

Title: Rescue - Worse Things Happen At Sea
Series following the Sea King Search and Rescue Flight based at RAF Lossiemouth. For a whole year a television crew filmed the emergency events this RAF Rescue crew were called to including the North Sea and Scottish mountains during perilous conditions. The Search and Rescue rescue a man from an oil rig support ship, who has head injuries.
I love this ceremony work that I do very much. AND a big part of my volunteer life evolves around rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing neglected/abused and "death row" dogs. So, I am going to disgress from "everything wedding" for a moment. If you or someone you know loves cocker spaniels and would love to adopt a special needs boy who is spunky, adventurous, courageous and very handsome, please let me know. Handsome Henry has had quite a journey so far in his 3+ years and one of my rescue groups is searching for a most beautiful home for him.

Title: The new family member!
Here is Babs! Jim's mum went to visit our next door neighbours who's dog just had puppies and she couldn't resist bringing one home....so we have a new family member - Babsy! xxxxx
Title: New Family Member: An asshole moves in!
Well....many have come and gone......but this snobby new guy takes the cake!
I don't know how she did it, but Seattle photographer, Barbie Hull, was "on it" during Michael and Lindy's wedding ceremony at Port Gamble Church in Port Gamble, WA ~ she exquisitely caught this perfect image of little guy Wake running toward his parents during their wedding ceremony!
Wake was supposed to walk his Mother down the aisle and changed his mind at the last moment. Instead, Wake rambled around the bottom floor and balcony of Port Gamble Church during the ceremony, entertaining himself as only little guys do.
As we honored Wake during the ceremony, we all turned and waved to him while he was peaking out from the church's small balcony area. And within a few minutes, Wake was running down the aisle to his parents for a big hug.
Crystal. Sweet. Perfect. Sometimes there are no words for a moment that takes your breath away.

Title: The Protomen - Act II: The Good Doctor
The person who uploaded Act II took the videos down.
The Protomen aren't exactly widely known. People can't support a band they don't know about. Ergo, I will upload this and a few other iconic songs from the Act.
Thomas:
My father worked the mines
'Til the day it took his life
Stolen from his only only son
And then stolen from his wife
And I swore upon his grave
someday I would make things right
So I learned how to bend steel
I learned how to make it move
And I watched as it withstood
all the hell we put men through
With hands of Iron
There's not a task we couldn't do.
They've waited so long for this day
Someone to take the death away
No son would ever have to say
"Father worked into his Grave"
Albert:
Tom, listen to yourself
And listen carefully to me
If you replace the working parts
You get a different machine
The man who turns the wheels
They will follow wherever he leads
We've spent our whole lives searching for a way to make a better world
Giving everything to them, asking for nothing in return
Well here it is, a chance to take back everything we've earned.
Thomas:
They've waited so long for this day
(They waited for so long for this day)
Someone to take the death away
(There is no price they wouldn't pay)
No son would ever have to say
(For someone else to lead them)
"Father worked into his Grave"
(Don't turn your back on me!)
What will I become
With the things I will create
I never said that men should bow
I never said that men should break
I only want what's best
The one I love she works so hard
Works her fingers until they bleed
Some of the pain she endures
Would bring a strong man to his knees
I only want to help
Albert: You are a fool
Tom: You underestimate the character of men
Albert: Well they are weaker than you think
Tom: You think they'll surrender if you bind their working hands
But they are strong
Albert: Just wait and see
Thomas:
We will build cities in a day
(Men would cower at the sight)
We will build towers to the heavens
(Men was not built for such a height)
We will be heros
(We build heros)
They've waited so long for this day,
Someone to take the death away
No son would ever have to say
"Father worked into his Grave."
Men sleep tonight with hands of bone
And will awake with hands of steel
With these hands we will destroy
And with these hands we will rebuild
And we will stand above the city
Rising high above the streets
From tops of buildings we will look
At all the lies beneath our feet
And we will raise our hands above us
Cold steel shining in the sun
And with these hands that will not bleed
My father's battle will be won

Mother Nature was in full force during Tony and Shannon's wedding day. When I arrived at Alderbrook Resort for Tony and Shannon's 4:00 p.m. wedding ceremony, it was raining.
And within the next two hours, we had more rain, no rain, a little wind, sunshine - big sunshine! - and a rainbow. And then, a downpour!
50+ family and friends gathered for Tony and Shannon's waterside wedding at Alderbrook Resort this past Saturday and the weather just became a part of this couple's story. This was such a fun ceremony - Tony and Shannon share a great sense of humor and Tony's friend, Photographer Mike Tallman, had his running shoes on to capture the marvelous fun during the couple's vows and more.
And just after the ceremony completed, a rainbow - peaking through the clouds. The funny thing is that on this exact Saturday a year ago, I married Matt and Katie in the exact same location at Alderbrook and right after their ceremony, a rainbow!
Mike and Tiffany - thank you for the beautiful images from this ceremony - you captured this couple so beautifully! And Julie Noice - your staff at Alderbrook Resort is the very best!

Title: I Stand Alone - Godsmack - Drum Cover
"I Stand Alone" Was the first Godsmack song I'd ever heard in my life. Needless to say, after this one, I was hooked. Aside from the band itself just kicking so much ass on a daily basis, I always admired their odd sort of creativity. On the whole, Sully, Robbie, Tony, Shannon (and Tommy for that matter) display an amazing kinship. Something all bands need to have in my honest opinion.
I thought it only fair to cover one of my faves by them. Granted, I can't lay a finger on what Shannon Larkin in capable of, but I figured I'd put my own twist on his artwork.
Thanks for tuning in.

Which would be more intimidating to you, taking someone out on a first date or giving a speech in a public environment? Ok. Obviously the answer is giving a public speech but you would be very surprised to learn how many people get nervous about a first date. I know a few people who choose not to date just because of having to go on that first one.
Dating isnt as hard as some say. Its definitely not what you see on TV where one person is a babbling idiot and the other is neurotic. Life isnt like Sex and the City. Sorry. Dating is actually fun. Remember, the person youre meeting on the other side of that door is will also be going on a first date too and probably is just as nervous as you.
Well, Im here to help. I went through all of the dating expert articles in some of the leading magazines on the subject such as Cosmopolitan for the women and Maxim Magazine for the men and put together this list of first date tips. You dont need to follow every single one to the dot but keep some of them in mind. Make a Backup Plan The weather can change unexpectedly, restaurants can close from electrical problems, or you can lose those Red Sox tickets. Make a backup plan just in case your date plans take an unexpected turn.
Plan a Short Date - No need to plan out the rest of your lives together. Start with a simple, one or two hour date. If things go well, you can always keep the date going. However, there's nothing worse than having planned on an all-day event after you realize five minutes into the date that you have nothing in common with the other person.
Be Punctual - There's no greater sign of disrespect than being late for your first date. Get directions to your location, arrive early, and show your date that you care about them and the plans you made together. Consider it like a job interview. If you work hard enough, youll be paid extra at the end of the date. Agree on a Dress Code - When planning the date, talk about what youll be wearing. Nothing is more embarrassing if one person shows up in a suit while the other wears jeans and a sweatshirt. Compliment, But Don't Over Do It - A few nice words makes everyone feel good, but persistent comments about the other person's looks, personality, body, etc., gets old and can seem desperate and sometimes creepy.
Drink Responsibly - A few drinks may take the pressure off the date, but don't act like you're reliving your old frat days. Drinking too much will likely bring out some bad sides to your personality and that WONT help your chances of a second date.
Balance Talking and Listening - Pay attention to the amount of time you spend talking versus listening. If the scale is weighing in either direction, look to balance it out. Try not to dominate the conversation with stories about yourself, either.
Now that you got your date and youve planned out everything to the exact detail, youre going to need somewhere fun to go. Here is a list of some of the things you can do together:
Play some mini golf Visit a carnival or fair Go disco bowling Watch the sunrise or sunset together Go to a comedy club Visit a museum Plan a picnic in the park Go sightseeing in your own city Attend a sporting event such as a baseball game Rent canoes or a paddle boat and row around the nearest lake Take a cooking or pottery class together Go to the zoo Play a board game such as Trivial Pursuit Bake cookies together. Chocolate chip is a personal fave Drive to a nearby town you have never visited before
