Stuart and Nicole's Memorable Wedding Day At Novelty Hill Januik Winery... Stuart and Nicole Roy
August 22, 2009 - Novelty Hill Januik Winery

You've gotta love Stuart and Nicole Roy! Not only is the couple meant to be together, they know how to throw a party! Stuart and Nicole celebrated their partnership with marriage this past Saturday evening at one of the newest and finest venues on the Eastside, Novelty Hill Januik Winery in Woodinville - www.noveltyhilljanuik.com

On-Site Event Manager, Emily, did a smashing job in helping me coordinate an elegant start to this couple's wedding ceremony and from what I could see of the reception set-up, it was definitely an evening for lifetime memories.

Stuart and Nicole, I agree - I hope we meet again, some place, some time!

COCKER SPANIEL "HONEY BEAR" - JUST LOOK AT THIS FACE!

por | | 0 comments

COCKER SPANIEL "HONEY BEAR" - JUST LOOK AT THIS FACE!The Story of "Honey Bear"
Rescued from a hell hole in January.
Adopted to a loving home in February.

A big part of my life is dog rescue and rehabilitation and I've been doing this work in Seattle for more than 15 years. My husband, Greg and I, have four dogs at our home/property on Bainbridge Island - and during the past couple of years, we have taken care of special needs dogs who have spent the their last months with us.

I was part of a team that rescued "Honey Bear" in January. We found her living in filth and neglect in a shed with a heat lamp. After getting her urgent veterinary care and grooming, we discovered the sweetest little cocker girl underneath all of her filth and mats. She was fostered by a loving couple for several weeks and adopted by a lovely woman named Amy. Amy and Honey Bear are living together in Port Orchard and best of all, Honey Bear goes to work every day with Amy and the two are practically joined at the hip!

So, on this chilly March evening as I am working to find a foster home for another rescued dog - I offer you Honey Bear's picture and story for no other reason than to share the joy I feel when a dog is released from suffering and is insured of love and kindness for the rest of it's life. Woof!

When Mother Nature Decides To Throw You A Gift - Rain Showers, A Snow Storm...Even A Rainbow! Matt and Katy Salvolskis
Alderbrook Resort, April 11, 2009
*****

It might have been a little chilly for Matt and Katy's 5:00 p.m. wedding ceremony but the joy in the tent for their evening ceremony was truly remarkable in all ways.

In the middle of Matt and Katy's ceremony, a beautiful rainbow unexpectedly appeared and we all took a few moments just to soak in this beautiful gift. "Unexpected stuff" is what I love about a wedding ceremony. You can plan and plan and plan and then Mother Nature unexpectedly decides to throw you a beautiful gift! And when this happens in a ceremony, you just go with it!

Congratulations, Matt and Katy!

Stevie and Kelli ~ You Are So Very Married! Wed On April 24, 2010 ~ The Sorrento Hotel, Seattle!

Stevie and Kelli ~ You Are So Very Married! Wed On April 24, 2010 ~ The Sorrento Hotel, Seattle!Stevie and Kelli ~ You did it! You are so very married!

More than 100 family and friends gathered for Stevie and Kelli's wedding ceremony atop the Sorrento Hotel. And the very slow hotel elevator only added to the fun and ambience of this day.

Kelli was absolutely smashing in her gown and accessories and as I told her new husband more than once, "Stevie, you are one lucky guy!"

Working together, we created a personalized wedding ceremony that included tributes to the couple's parents, special gifts to their parents, keepsake mementos created and exchanged by Stevie and Kelli during their ceremony...and humor. You could not have a wedding ceremony for this couple without humor!

Stevie and Kelli ~ congratulations!

GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR WEDDING FAVORS & SAVE MONEY...Mmmm... Okay, this isn't exactly a wedding ceremony topic but it is one close to my heart - baking!

I officiated Tara and Clark's wedding ceremony this past Saturday evening and left with a marvelous goodie bag filled with absolutely delicious cookies!

I was very taken with this cute and fun favor idea because:
- it is very personalized
- people could "mix and match the cookies"
- children especially loved this!

Get The Officiant "Outta There!" - Keeping The Focus On The Couple and NOT the Officiant! Graham and Chrystal Comley
Snoqualmie Golf & Country Club, 2009

Okay, here is one of my pet peeves. A couple ties a bow around their wedding ceremony with a beautiful pronouncement and memorable kiss and the Officiant is crowding their special photo!

In this work that I do, I move around - sometimes a little, sometimes a lot - during a ceremony to keep the focus on the couple and their family and friends.

And one of the places you'll never see me is smack in the middle of a kiss. I love a pronouncement where the focus is fully on the couple, like the amazing photo of Graham and Chrystal above, without the Officiant in the photo.

I love being in wedding photos - just some more than others!

Feng Shui and Romance - Using the Ancient Art to Enhance Your Romantic Space

por | | 0 comments

“If your love life needs a quick boost, you can use the art of placement to produce the romantic results you desire.” Heidi Richards

Feng Shui (pronounced fung shway) is the ancient Asian practice of object arrangement and space planning designed to bring balance, harmony and well-being to your environment. Its purpose is to enhance prosperity, creative, health and romance. Feng Shui fortifies a home with positive energy known as chi. The attainment of positive chi is both an art and a blessing to those who manifest that chi. The word “feng” means wind and “shui” means water, each one associated with a good harvest and ultimate good health or good fortune.

If your love life needs a quick boost, you can use the art of placement to produce the romantic results you desire. Relationships need the proper environment to grow. They need the balance of the five elements, too much or too little will find the romance wither. Here are some Feng Shui tips to enhance your romantic space:

The first thing you must do is remove clutter out of your romance area (generally this is the bedroom). That means you must remove trash, dirty ashtrays, dead plants and nothing should be stored under the bed. Dust and cobwebs on the fans, walls, light fixtures and ceilings should be cleaned away.

Enhance your space with romance colors, such as shades of pinks, reds and whites. Guys, this does not mean it has to be feminine. You can use maroon, grayish tones of pinks and whites to achieve the same results. The key is to not use any one color so much that it overpowers the others. Other good colors include browns, beiges, lavenders, yellows and deeper shades of those are appropriate.

If you keep flowers in the room (an excellent way to attract romance into your life), make sure they are always fresh. At the first sign of wilting, toss them out. Silk flowers are an okay alternative, provided they are free of dust. Absolutely no dried flowers as they signify death. Also, make sure the roses are de-thorned. Nothing prickly such as cactus, unless your goal is to break-up.

In Feng Shui a Relationship Alter positively stimulates a relationship. Designate a special place in your romance area in which to put items that will encourage a healthy, loving relationship. Things to include in your relationship altar can include a heart shaped pink crystal quartz, a pair of candles, mandarin ducks.
Use the Pairs Principle to encourage love. That means two candles, two nightstands, two lights on top, two potted plants, two pillows, two chairs, etc. The Chinese symbol for love is Mandarin ducks. They signify love, romance, fidelity, affection, and loyalty in love.

Your bed should be placed in the commanding position of the room. This is to permit the widest possible vision. The door or entry to the room should be easily seen from the bed. And the head of the bed should be against a wall or against a corner. If you have nightstands, make sure one is on either side (a pair) and that the bed is accessible on three sides to attract and keep a partner. The bed should not be placed under a window.

The bedroom is for sleep and intimacy. No one should come into your room without your invitation. There should be no distractions such as workout equipment, a television, things that would remind you of work.
It is good to hang pink (heart-shaped) crystals and wind chimes in a sunny window to attract good love energy (yang).

Pictures of you as a child, your children or other relatives should also be removed from the bedroom or romance area. This space should be reserved for couples and should only display pictures of the two of you.
Dim lights will give the room a warm, inviting feeling. No harsh fluorescents or high wattage lighting, here.

While this is by no means the ultimate guide to Feng Shui for Romance, it is a good start. These ten tips will give your relationship area the boost it deserves and your romance the fulfillment it requires. Altar your space and you will altar your love life.

Title: How to Feng Shui Your Workspace

Expand the description and view the text of the steps for this how-to video.

Check out Howcast for other do-it-yourself videos from goluxx and more videos in the Feng Shui category.

You can contribute too! Create your own DIY guide at http://www.howcast.com/videos/new or produce your own Howcast spots with the Howcast Filmmakers Program at http://www.howcast.com/filmmakers/apply.

Lure luck your way at your workplace by arranging things according to the ancient Chinese design philosophy known as feng shui.

To complete this How-To you will need:

A plant
A desktop fountain or fishbowl
Blue, purple, and red desk accessories
A black briefcase or laptop bag
Photos
A desk lamp

Step 1: Get rid of clutter

De-clutter your desk and workspace, which is the most important thing you can do to balance the _chi_—or energy—in your office.

Step 2: Toss or fix anything broken

Repair or get rid of anything that's broken—like a pen that's out of ink or a flickering desk lamp. They block your chi.

Step 3: Get a plant

Put a plant on your desk to absorb energy-draining emissions from your computer. Just avoid cacti, whose pointy needles attract negative energy.

Tip: Try an orchid if your job requires you to suffer fools gladly. Feng shui experts believe orchids are symbols of patience.

Step 4: Have a view of the door

The placement of your desk and chair should allow you to see who's coming into the room. Business and opportunity symbolically come to you through the door; so don't turn your back on it. If you can, position your desk so a solid wall is behind you.

Tip: To "watch your back" even more effectively, make sure your chair has proper back support.

Step 5: Get a fountain or fishbowl

Place a desktop fountain or fish bowl on or near your desk. These decorations activate the water element, inviting the flow of money and success. Feng shui aside, fish and fountains are relaxing. They'll help calm you down when you're stressed.

Step 6: Use the right colors

Use desk accessories and office supplies in blues, purples, and reds, which are the colors of calm, creativity, and recognition. Black is the color of money, so use a black briefcase or laptop bag.

Step 7: Arrange family photos

To promote harmony, place pictures of loved ones on the upper-right corner of your desk.

Step 8: Keep garbage away

Keep your wastebasket as far away from your desk as possible. If you must have one, place it at the bottom-left corner of your desk.

Step 9: Adjust the lighting

If your office has overhead, fluorescent lighting, try getting one of the bulbs removed to decrease the lighting intensity. Then, add a desk lamp that provides the right amount of lighting for your work area.

Kiana Lodge - One Of My Most Favorite Places In The Northwest For A Wedding... Brian and Jessica Nau
Kiana Lodge, April 26, 2009
*****
Brian and Jessica's wedding ceremony at the marvelous Kiana Lodge was a beautiful event in all ways. The weather was so outstanding (sunny and warm) that we had the ceremony on the deck overlooking Agate Pass. I absolutely loved getting to know Brian and Jessica over the past year - in fact, Brian and Jessica spent only 46 out of 52 weeks together last year as Brian was stationed overseas!

Brian and Jessica - Given the legacy of love shared by your parents, I wish you an equally blessed and sweet marriage!

Creating Elements Of Your Wedding Ceremony - Some Sacred, Some Contemporary...Perhaps A Little Fun?

Creating Elements Of Your Wedding Ceremony - Some Sacred, Some Contemporary...Perhaps A Little Fun?
The Very Wonderful Dan and Kellie Cocoran
The Arctic Club Hotel, 2008
Photo: Kate McElwee www.katemcelweephotography.com
As I sit here on this New Year's morning, I'm very, very excited and hopeful for this new year. And I'm very grateful for the amazing opportunity to do this heartfelt work.
If you are embarking on the journey of "what do we want for our wedding ceremony, " and/or what do you want AND don't want for your ceremony, here are a few things to consider:
1) Your wedding ceremony is your opportunity to celebrate your loving partnership and the tribe of people who love you. So, with this said, work with your Officant/Minister to co-create a ceremony that is truly you - or as I'm fond of saying, "tastes, feels and looks" like the two of you.
- Incorporate personal elements or perhaps unique pieces into your ceremony. Ideas to ponder: including your dog in the ceremony, a wonderful surprise, unique and deeply personalized wedding vows which include a bit of elegant humor, creating a sweet ritual which includes your wedding party in the ceremony, or perhaps exchanging love letters to be opened on your first anniversary.
****
- The process of "getting to your wedding day" is a journey of anticipation, chaos, joy, indecision and elation - much like life itself. By using your wedding ceremony as the "foundation" of your wedding day, you set the tone for the reception/celebration. So, kick it up a bit and venture between the world of the past and today.
